NABOC Conference Gets An A+
We (Geena Jackson and Loa Fridfinnson) just returned from the National Aboriginal Business Conference (NABOC) in Osoyoos, B.C. held at the beautiful NK’MIP Resort. It began with an evening welcome reception where interesting people met and mingled from first nations and industry across Canada, to kick off a valuable conference experience.
The next morning's opening breakfast offered a fantastic speach by Chief Clarence Louie, CEO of the Osoyoos First Nations, followed by workshops such as: The Network Benefits of Fibre Optics Solutions for First Nations Communities, Partnering to find effective community wastewater solutions, How to combine First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) coverage with a Band Membership Health Plan, my and Geena's talk on Developing Small Businesses and Economic Development, and many other informative workshops were delivered.
We made some new friends (as we do) and formed business relationships that will help us to increase business education and encourage more entrepreneneurial spirit in first nations communities across BC. NABOC is a conference unlike any other I've attended, and kudos to Geoff Greenwell of 2G Group of Companies for organizing such a valuable and fun event.
